HOW CONFIDENTIAL ARE SESSIONS?

Confidentiality is an important part of the counselling process, and I take your privacy and your trust in me to protect your confidentiality very seriously. Everything you share with me in our sessions is kept between you and I, unless I have your written and informed consent to do otherwise.  However, there are a few exceptions in which I would need to break confidentiality. These exceptions include:

1. If I believe you are at imminent risk of hurting yourself or others.

2. If there is any risk or suspicion of risk of harm, abuse or neglect to a child or vulnerable person.

3. If a client's records are subpoenaed by a court order or if the disclosure is otherwise required or authorized by law.

If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality at any point, I am happy to chat with you about it further.
